MUMBAI: Deepal Shaw is poised to earn the distinction of becoming the first female actor in Bollywood to play a triple role in a forthcoming film.
Shaw, better known as Baby Doll, the character she made famous in a music video of the same name, will be enacting the triple role in director Navneet Baj Saini’s as yet untitled film. The film also features Irrfan Khan, Lucky Ali, Ranvir Shorey and Nausheen Ali Sardar.
Saini, who assisted Saurabh Narang for Ramgopal Varma’s Vaastu Shastra, says “We had earlier titled the film Tumse, but it did not suit the subject and we dropped it. We thought of another title, but it’s been registered by another producer. Deepal Shaw is playing a triple role in this film, which is already 70 per cent complete. It is a modern, practical love story shot in Bangkok. The next 20 day schedule will start from 1 February onwards in India. The film is budgeted at Rs 60 million (Rs six crore), including its publicity. Ashok Khemka (who earlier produced Escape from Taliban) is the producer, while dance director Kamal’s son Irfan Kamal is the line producer. Asif Sheikh is the co producer of the film,” informs Saini.
Shaw made her film debut with Mahesh Bhatt’s Kalyug, featuring with Emraan Hashmi and fellow-newcomer Kunal Khemu.
