Cannes officials watch Traffic Signal

MUMBAI: Officials representing the Cannes Film Festival visited Mumbai recently to view Madhur Bhandarkar’s Traffic Signal.

Sources say the officials wanted the film to be entered in the film competition category in the festival. Traffic Signal has been produced by Percept Picture Company and stars Konkona Sen Sharma, Ranvir Shorey, Neetu Chandra and Kunal Khemu.

“Two weeks ago, officials from Cannes especially flew to Mumbai to see the film. They wanted to enter the film in the competition but on the condition that we would release the film after the festival. We couldn’t do that because the promos of the film are already on air. If we had postponed the release, it would have been stale. We have received a mail from them two days ago too,” says PPC’s business head of international distribution Sajjan Damani.

Thirty more prints have already been secured by the company for the film, which is a week away from its release.
