Dev Anand’s memoirs to release on 26 Sept

MUMBAI: Indian prime minister Manmohan Singh will release veteran actor Dev Anand’s memoirs on 26 September, which also happens to be Singh and Anand’s birthday. The book is titled Romancing Life and is being published by Penguin.

“The Prime Minister has agreed to release my book, on a day when it is both my birthday and his. So I will celebrate him and he will celebrate me and everyone else will celebrate the book. Sonia Gandhi has also agreed to be the chief guest,” Anand said while speaking to reporters in Mumbai.

Apart from promoting the book in India, Anand is also planning to travel to cities across the US and UK like Frankfurt, London, Stockholm, New York, San Francisco, Los Angeles and Atlanta to promote his book.

“The book is me, it is my life for the last 84 years. Those who know me will find me in those pages. I have poured my heart out in the book, but I have also gone with the flow,” he added.

When queried as to whether his recent films as a producer that didn’t do well were also written about in the book, the veteran actor said, “I don’t think of them as failures. I am merely experimenting with my thoughts. And moreover, the fact that I am still making films is success in itself. Otherwise at this age I would have been doing nothing.”

The actor has acted in, directed and produced more than 100 films.
