DQ Entertainment launches Lifetime Achievement Award

MUMBAI: DQ Entertainment (DQE) has instituted an annual Lifetime Achievement Award to honor individuals who have made significant contribution in the field of kids’ entertainment.

Commencing the lifetime achievement award at this year’s MIPCOM at Cannes, the Award was posthumously awarded to René Goscinny in recognition of his contribution towards children entertainment.

Goscinny the creator of iconic characters like Le Petit Nicolas (Little Nick), Asterix and Lucky Luke was chosen for his unforgettable contribution towards kids’ entertainment.

Industry peers from across Europe, North America, and Asia like BBC, American Greetings, Classic Media, Marvel, M6 France, Disney, Mike Young Productions, Nickelodeon, Turner Asia, France 3, Moonscoop, Method Animation, TF1 ‘were present at the award ceremony – an Indian Evening; a cocktail party hosted by DQE at the Mandala Beach Cannes, during which the award was presented.

Natalie Altman from M6 accepted the award on behalf of Anne Goscinny – daughter of the Late René Goscinny. The recipient for this inaugural award was selected by an international jury as a tribute to the creators’ work and its impact on the children and the industry.

In a video recorded message to the gathering, Anne Goscinny said, "I am honored to receive the award on behalf of my late father. I am sure he is with us right now and watching over us. His work lives on through the production of the animation series based on his creations such as le petit Nicolas, Asterix etc."

The Lifetime Achievement Award from DQ Entertainment to be presented annually, will be given in recognition of artists whose creativity goes beyond cultural, linguistic and other boundaries. Geniuses who, during their lifetime, have made creative contribution of outstanding artistic significance to entertainment.
