DQE to release three 3D movies from 2012 – 2014

MUMBAI: DQ Entertainment is gearing up to release three 3D movies starting 2012 onwards through 2014 under its films division – DQE Feature. Each movie will be made on a budget of approximately $25-30 million.

The company’s three 3D films are: The Jungle Book (2012-13), The New Adventures of Peter Pan (2013-14) and The Phoenix And The Flying Carpet (2013-14).

The DQE feature film slate will be lead by the company’s flagship property – The Jungle Book 3D TV Series, which has seen great success recently after being broadcast on networks such as TF1France, ABCAustralia, BBCUK, DisneySE Asia, ZDFTVGermany, TVO Canada, EBS Korea amongst others.

The first season of The Jungle Book TV series in 3D CGI has been sold in over 160 countries and has already been greenlit for a second season. A 3D Stereoscopic Christmas special is also in production for release in 2011.

The company will also present these productions at markets such as Cannes and AFM with a view to appoint sales agents and distributors worldwide.

The company has recently produced a 3D animated stereoscopic feature film The Prodigies with Onyx Films and Fidélité Films, France to be distributed by Warner Bros Pictures and Studio37, France. This action, adventure animated 3D film is fast under completion and will soon be released worldwide.

DQE chairman and CEO Tapaas Chakravarti said, "At DQE, there is enormous excitement after completion of The Prodigies, 3D Feature Film, to move forward rapidly for the development of The Jungle Book, Peter Pan and Phoenix and the Flying Carpet – 3D Stereoscopic feature films. The Jungle Book feature film is slated to be released in 2012-13 in high quality 3D Stereoscopic. The New Adventures of Peter Pan & The Phoenix and the Flying Carpet are scheduled for development and production targeting 2013 & 2014 for global release."
