Easy Ent. launches Movie Vending Machine


MUMBAI: Easy Entertainment Pvt. Ltd has launched India‘s first Movie Vending Machine, which provides movies “any time.”


 


The brainchild of Easy Entertainment Pvt. Ltd managing director Raaj Vakil, the Movie Vending Machine will have actor Tara Sharma as its brand ambassador.


 


The movie bank – ‘Any Time Movie’ was unveiled on 4 October at Inox in Mumbai by Sharma. The launch was attended by the Joint Commissioner of Police Mr Avate and other bollywood personalities.


 


Vakil says, “We are starting with two vending machines, one of them will be at Inox in Nariman Point and the other at Jolly Makers Towers in Cuffe Parade. Both the machine cost Rs 1.5 million (Rs 15 lakhs). The total investment made in the project is Rs 10 million (Rs 1 crore). Further we are planning eight such machines in Mumbai and by the end of next year we are looking at having 100 vending machines all over India. Each will be of a different capacities stocking VCDs and DVDs from 1000 to 2500 titles.”


 


Elaborating on the same, he adds, “Just like an ATM, this vending machine is fully automated and provides customers with anytime movie round-the-clock. It has facilities like Movies on Demand, On Line Booking through a Live Connection, Rent or Buy VCDs and DVDs of English and Hindi films, Music Videos, Games, Trailers, etc.”


 


The company has already acquired 2,500 titles. “We have tied up with Shemaroo, T-Series, Saregama (who officially distribute movies from Universal Pictures, MGM, New Line and Warner Bros.), Sony Pictures (who distribute Columbia Tristar Movies), Yashraj Films and Excel Home Video (who distributes mostly 20th Century Fox and Walt Disney production movies). Talks are still on with other companies too,” he adds.


 


On being queried as to whether this move will affect video libraries, Vakil adds, “They can also avail these vending machines. It will be helpful for them even after working hours and holidays.”


 


The cost of the membership card is Rs 500. Consumers can buy or rent films by using their credit cards.
