MUMBAI: After being appreciated in films like Once Upon A Time in Mumbaai, Murder 2, The Dirty Picture and Jannat 2, Emraan Hashmi is now receiving offers from Bollywood’s biggies like Karan Johar and Yash Chopra.
So how does the actor feel moving into the big league alongside Shah Rukh Khan, Salman Khan, Aamir Khan and Ranbir Kapoor?
"I never wanted to be part of any list of actors. I have always been working in projects that I believed in. I’d rather walk down my own path and do the kind of films that I want to do. I don’t want to be bracketed. I am very happy that everyone understands my cinema, my standing as mainstream, which for me is a big thing," said Emraan, to the media.
Reportedly, Emraan’s next is with Dharma Productions, a project to be directed by Rensil D’Silva, and with Yash Raj Films to be directed by Parmeet Sethi. Emraan clarifies, "There is no formal announcement but I have been talking to producers. When there’s a launch, you would know. I aspired to work in good films with good subjects, good roles. I have always gauged films on a thematic level. I like the films that they (Dharma Productions & YRF) make. It will be interesting to see our cinematic genres meld and produce something interesting."
