MUMBAI: Even before their first co-production – Raaz – The Mystery Continues – hits the screens, Vishesh Films and Sony BMG have already commenced work on their next venture.
Titled Tum Mile, the movie is directed by Kunal Deshmukh (Jannat) and will have Emraan Hashmi and Soha Ali Khan in the lead. The movie is already on floors and is a part of the multiple film tie-up between the two companies.
After shooting a few songs and some scenes in Cape Town, the unit of Tum Mile, is back in Mumbai and planning the last schedule. The movie is based on a love story inspired by the Mumbai cloud burst, which led to disaster in 2006.
Speaking to Businessofcinema.com, director Deshmukh says, "For the movie, we need to recreate the Mumbai floods and the hunt is on to find a location that can capture the flood hit areas during the natural disaster that hit Mumbai on 26 July, 2006."
"We need a massive studio that can act like a swimming pool as we have to shoot flood hit areas. And throughout the shoot there has to be a constant drizzle, so we need a sprinkler system that will need to be fit on the roof of the studio. Moreover, we will have to put the lights and the tarafa. Since it is a month long schedule, the swimming pool will need a filtration system otherwise my actors will fall sick shooting in the stale water," he informs.
Adding to his production woes are several issues. "The studio wall will need to be thick so that it can withstand the pressure of the water and we will also need a waterproof concrete flooring, so that water does not leak out. And inside the set there will be cars, some 300 junior artists for a week and several buildings. I need a huge space to erect this set and that is proving to be a mammoth problem in Mumbai."
To construct this set will take a month, after which Deshmukh will need another month to wrap up shooting. Currently, the unit has a few options like Mukesh Mill or the grounds at Sion.
