Eros International signs Punjabi films deal with Jimmy Shergill

MUMBAI: Eros International Media has inked a five film deal with actor Jimmy Shergill’s production company Jimmy Shergill Productions. The movies will be made in Punjabi.

The actor, who has met with success in Punjabi films, dons the producer’s hat in these ventures with Eros.

The first of these projects called Taur Mitran Di has gone on floor and stars Amrinder Gill, Ranvijay Singh, Surveen Chawla and Amita Pathak. Following that will be a project featuring Shergill, the shooting of which will commence in February 2012.
 
Eros International Media MD Sunil Lulla said, "Jimmy Shergill has made an indelible mark in Punjabi films and Eros is looking forward to partnering with him as we continue with our expansion plans in the regional film markets."

Shergill added, "Punjabi cinema is growing with every film and I am really happy to tie-up with Eros as a systematic corporate approach will help us take Punjabi cinema forward and present on a global platform."

Director of Taur Mitran Di, Navaniat Singh added, "Eros International gave me my first break as a director and released Tera Mera Ki Rishta. After three successive hits – Tera Mera Ki Rishta, Mel Kara de Rabba and Dharti, I feel honoured to be associated with Eros. This association has helped me grow as a director and present quality Punjabi cinema to audiences worldwide."
