MUMBAI: Nominated with two Academy Awards, 2007 comedy-drama The Savages has been released on DVD by Excel Home Videos.
Almost 10 years after writer and director Tamara Jenkins made a name for herself with her black funny Slums of Beverly Hills, she’s back with The Savages.
The movie was premiered at Sundance Film Festival, was an official selection at over a dozen film festivals and garnered multiple Best Screenplay and Best Actress accolades.
Nominated with two Academy Awards including best Original Screenplay for director Jenkins and Best Actress for Laura Linney, The Savages, inspired by Jenkins’ personal experience with aging family members and ill health, revolves around two siblings who are forced to face the ghost of their pasts – and their future-together during a family crisis.
Laura Linney stars as Wendy Savage – a struggling playwright and Philip Seymour Hoffman in his Golden Globe nominated role as Jon Savage – a neurotic college professor.
