FICCI FRAMES and IIFA honour ten Bollywood stars

MUMBAI: The annual Indian media and entertainment convention FICCI FRAMES partnered with IIFA to honour 10 Bollywood stars who are the Most Powerful Entertainers of the decade.

This is the tenth year of the FRAMES convention and incidentally also the tenth year for the IIFA Awards. On this occasion, the two bodies honoured 10 Bollywood actors for their contribution to Indian cinema.

These were Amitabh Bachchan, Aamir Khan, Shah Rukh Khan, Akshay Kumar, Hrithik Roshan, Kareena Kapoor, Priyanka Chopra, Shilpa Shetty, Preity Zinta and Rani Mukherji.

However, out of the 10 actors only five were able to attend the felicitation namely Amitabh Bachchan, Preity Zinta, Kareena Kapoor, Shilpa Shetty and Priyanka Chopra. While SRK could not make it due to his recent shoulder operation, some of the other actors were unable to attend due to various reasons.

In receiving the award, Bachchan, who is also the brand ambassador of IIFA, said, "I am very honoured to receive this recognition. I have been working in this industry for the last 40 years and appreciate this felicitation."

It also saw the coming together of two legends – Hollywood actor Danny Glover and Indian superstar Amitabh Bachchan. Glover was also felicitated with the FICCI-USIBC Award. Glover also gave the memento to Bachchan. Glover is one of the top character actors working in Hollywood. He made his debut in the 1979 Clint Eastwood potboiler Escape from Alcatraz (1979) and since then worked in multiple movies including Dreamgirls (2006).

The entertainment evening was kick started with a musical performance by Pandit Shivkumar Sharma and his son Rahul Sharma.
