MUMBAI: Film producer and brother of acclaimed director Mani Ratnam, G Srinivasan, passed away on 27 May 2007.
The 49-year-old film producer was trekking with his family members, including his wife Sandhya Lakshman and dauguter Shreya, when he fell into a gorge on Sunday morning, at Halan, 14 kms from Manali in Himachal Pradesh.
The body of the producer, who was holidaying with his family for the last 10 days, was retrieved at around 2 pm – three hours after the incident took place. He was to return to Chennai today. Srinivasan’s body has been taken to Chennai for the last rites.
Srinivasan has produced critically-acclaimed films like Iruvar (1997), Yuva (2002), Guru, which was released earlier this year, and Kannathinmuthanittal (2002), all directed by Mani Ratnam.
Born in Chennai on 23 September 1958, Srinivasan was a practising chartered accountant, besides producing films.
