Mumbai: The Film and Television Producers Guild of India announced the nominees for Apsara Awards for excellence and achievement in theatrical motion pictures in the presence of Guild members Manmohan Shetty and Ronnie Screwvala, NDTV Imagine CEO Samir Nair and Wizcraft director Viraf Sarkari.
The Producers’ Guild Awards will be held on 30 March at MMRDA Grounds in Mumbai and will have performances by Salman Khan, Katrina Kaif, Kareena Kapoor, Aftab Shivdasani and Shreyas Talpade.
Guild president Screwvala said, "The Producers’ Guild Awards looks to honor achievers within the fraternity and it is an initiative from the fraternity itself. And that is the prime differentiator and what makes this special. With this synergy between Guild and Wizcraft, we are confident that very soon; this will become the most credible amongst awards."
NDTV Imagine and Wizcraft International are the promoters of the awards. A total of 28 Apsaras are being presented this year, 16 for popular awards category, seven for technical awards category and five for special awards category.
Nominations include all motion pictures exhibited or broadcast between 1 December 2006 and 30 November 2007 and which were registered by either the producer or director of the film. A total of 41 entries were received.
The jury for popular awards category includes Ashok Thakeria, Uday Singh, Govind Nihlani, Mukesh Bhatt, Kushal Nandy and John Matthew. The jury for technical awards category included Ravi Chopra, Ketan Anand, Jahnu Baruah, Vinay Sinha, Vinod Gawatra and Gautam Ghose.
The lifetime achievement award will be given for outstanding achievement in fostering the finest ideals of the film and television profession.
The awards are audited by Pricewaterhouse Coopers.
