Finally after 41 years, Akbar Khan’s film on the Mughal era Taj Mahal – An Eternal Love Story has paved way for a Pakistan film festival in India. The first Pakistani film festival will be held from June 25 this year in Mumbai and Delhi.
The Lahore based Pakistan Film Producers Association have recommended films like Sayed Noor’s Daku Rani and Majaajan, Javed Sheikh’s Yeh Dil Apka Hua, Sajjad Rashid’s Salaakhen and Reema Khan’s Koi Tujsa Kahan that will be screened at the fest.
The Indian delegation which included Shatrughan Sinha, Mahesh Bhatt, Shyam Shroff with the Khan clan and led by Union Minister for Culture and Tourism Ambika Soni who were present at the historical premiere of the film Taj Mahal in Lahore and Karachi in April last, were instrumental in bringing the cultural co-operation between India and Pakistan.
So films are in the process of confidence building measures for speeding peace process and bringing both the countries closer.
