MUMBAI: French cine-lovers in Mumbai are in for treat this time around. Fun Cinemas in association with Alliance Francoise will organize the fifth Fun Cinemas French Film Festival between 3 – 9 August.
Speaking about the festival Fun Cinemas senior vice president marketing Shirish Handa said, “There has been an increasing patronage for French cinema in India over the last few years. This year’s Fun Cinemas’ French Film Festival promises to be an interesting mix of critically acclaimed and commercially successful French Cinema that mirrors the French culture of today.”
French Embassy head of French films Mohamed Bendjebbour said, “The French Embassy is thrilled to strengthen its relationship with Fun Cinemas. Through this platform we are able to give the young urban multiplex audience the opportunity to discover a new genre of cinema and more importantly access to world cinema, in particular French. We hope in the long-term that French cinema will create its own niche among this young audience. We at the French embassy feel that Indian audiences deserve a wider choice of cinema.”
The French Film Festival at Fun, Andheri will showcase one movie everyday at 8 pm. Those film screened will also have sub-titles in English.
The films to be screened include Le Couperet (The Axe), Je Ne Suis Pas La Pour Etre Aime (Not here to be Loved), Petite Jerusalem (Little Jerusalem), Les Mauvais Joueurs (The Gamblers), which was awarded at the Berlin International Film festival; Le Petit Lieutenant (The Little Lieutenant) – winner at the Venice film festival, Bled Number One, which won the Cannes film festival – Award of the youth and Changement D’adresse.
