Govinda’s long-delayed film Sandwich releases today

Mumbai: After five years Govinda, Raveena Tandon, Mahima Chaudhary starrer Sandwich releases today. Sandwich was earlier titled as Hum Do Hamaara Ek. The film is a Smita Thackeray’s production and was originally slated for release 3 years back. The film is written and directed by Anees Bazmee, who has delivered the biggest hit of last year, No Entry.

The film was originally financed by In Network Ltd. and said to be budgeted around Rs. 75 million (Rs. 7.5 crore). Almost a year back, the film changed hands and Sahara Motion Pictures acquired the worldwide rights. After Coolie No.1, Saajan Chale Sasural and Kyun Ki… Main Jhoot Nahin Bolta, once again Govinda is back with more double trouble as he gets sandwiched between two women Raveena Tandon and Mahima Chaudhary. While the former plays a cosmopolitan girl, the latter is a simple, yet naughty rustic! The cast also includes Shweta Menon, Kiran Kumar, Mohnish Behl and Johnny Lever. Smita Thackeray was unavailable for comment.

But Anees Bazmee says, “I’m very happy that the film is finally getting released. The film should have released earlier. But couple of Govinda’s film bombed at the box-office. Thus, the distributors shied away. I cannot comment on the box-office fate. But I have put my best and is a laugh-riot.”
