Omkara home video released

Mumbai: Shemaroo Video Pvt. Ltd. announced the home video release of Omkara today, four weeks after its theatrical release. A Shemaroo Films presentation and Vishal Bhardwaj’s interpretation of Shakespeare’s literary classic Othello, the film is produced by Kumar Mangat.

The DVD comes with value additions such as a special 10 page booklet with interesting facts and trivia about the film. The Making of Omkara, deleted scenes, subtitles in English, Tamil, Telugu, Bengali, Hindi & Malayalam find their way in too. The DVD is priced at Rs.399/- and VCD at Rs.149/-.

Home videos of a film generally release 40 days after the theatrical release. But the home video of Omkara has released within 4 weeks. “Home Video of films generally release any time from 2 weeks to 8 weeks. We released the home video of Omkara within 4 weeks to curb piracy of the film. Another factor influencing the home video release is the theatrical performance of the film”, Shemaroo’s Vice President Hiren Gada says

Omkara is still running in theatres and multiplexes all over India. The film may have been critically acclaimed but the box office performance of the film has not been as expected.
