Gurdip Bhangoo appointed head of programming at Sony TV

Mumbai: Multi Screen Media has appointed Gurdip Bhangoo as head of programming for Sony Entertainment Television.

Bhangoo, who was until recently the executive producer and head of BBC Asian programming unit, was with BBC for the last 15 years. In recent times he has created  & executive produced a range of prime-time output in genres ranging from drama, documentary, travelogue, history, popular culture and food with titles like: The Day India Burned: Partition; The Lost World of The Raj; Indian Food Made Easy; Saira Khans Pakistan Adventure and Mumbai Uncovered.

Multi Screen Media CEO Kunal Dasgupta said, "In today’s global village, where great ideas travel across borders, Bhangoo is well poised to exploit this phenomenon and is a great addition to our already strong creative team in India. He brings with him a unique combination of international TV experience coupled with a good understanding   of programming to the South Asian community. He has proven creative leadership and in his last position, was the only Asian to occupy such a senior position at the BBC U.K, leading a team of senior talent. He has been responsible for creating & commissioning content for the Asian Programming Unit of BBC."
