HBO to televise Barrack Obama’s inaugural celebration We are One


MUMBAI: HBO will be exclusively televising Barrack Obama’s We are One in Asia: Obama Inaugural Celebration at The Lincoln Memorial, which is the opening celebration for the 56th United States Presidential Inaugural. This will be aired on 20 January at 6.30 pm.

The Opening Celebration will be a marquis event attended by both President-elect Barack Obama and Vice President-elect Joe Biden.

Featuring some of the biggest acts in the world of entertainment, some of the performers scheduled for the event include Beyonce, Sheryl Crow, Shakira, Bruce Springsteen, Stevie Wonder, Mary J. Blige, Bono, Garth Brooks, Renee Fleming, Josh Groban, Herbie Hancock, Heather Headley, Bettye LaVette, John Legend, Jennifer Nettles, John Mellencamp, Usher Raymond IV, Pete Seeger, James Taylor and Will.I.Am. Among those reading historical passages will be Jack Black, Steve Carell, Rosario Dawson, Jamie Foxx, Tom Hanks, Martin Luther King III, Queen Latifah, Laura Linney and Denzel Washington. The Rt. Reverend V. Gene Robinson will give the invocation, while producer Rob Mathes will be the music director and arranger for the backing band which will support all of the artists.

The special will be executive produced by George Stevens, Jr. (The Kennedy Center Honors), and produced by Don Mischer (Olympic ceremonies), who will also direct the special, and Michael Stevens (The American Film Institute Salutes), who is also writing the special.

We are one: Obama Inaugural Celebration at The Lincoln Memorial will be the only event that President-elect Obama will speak at before his official Inauguration Ceremony.
