MUMBAI: The Indian Film Festival of Los Angeles (IFFLA) has announced the 2010 line-up of films for its 8th annual festival, which runs 20- 25 April at ArcLight Hollywood. The six-day festival will showcase 33 films from 5 countries, including 4 world premieres and 7 US premieres.
“This is a true celebration of the art and business of Indian film and culture as well as an opportunity to connect with the game changers and emerging filmmakers of Indian themed content,’ said IFFLA executive director Christina Marouda. “As filmmakers of Indian descent forge new relationships in Hollywood, we invite moviegoers and industry professionals to experience our unique and wide ranging program which includes thought-provoking dramas, engaging documentaries, along with a touch of light hearted fare and a taste of Bollywood.”
Kicking off the festival is the Los Angeles premiere and directorial debut of Dilip Mehta‘s Cooking with Stella, starring Seema Biswas, Lisa Ray, and Don McKellar. The Gala will be hosted by the Screen Actors Guild (SAG) with support from the Canadian Consulate of Los Angeles and Telefilm Canada as a benefit for the Institute for Myeloma & Bone Cancer Research in Beverly Hills.
Bollywood By Night returns with screenings of 3 Idiots, Kaminey, and the newly re-mastered print of Ashes To Ashes. The films will be presented as part of ArcLight Hollywood’s 21+ screenings.
The festival comes to a close with a Gala event featuring the Australian production of The Waiting City, directed by Claire McCarthy and starring Radha Mitchell, Joel Edgerton and Samrat Chakrabarti. McCarthy, Mitchell, and Chakrabarti will be in attendance. The closing night Gala takes place on Saturday, 25 April, 2010, at ArcLight Hollywood.
The feature films include 3 Idiots, Ashes To Ashes, At My Doorstep, Babies Made In India, Nero’s Guests, Cooking With Stella, Fatso, Harishchandrachi Factory, Kaminey, Mad Sad and Bad, The Man Beyond The Bridge, Fipresci, Rasberry Magic, Road, Movie, Searching 4 Sandeep, The Sun Behind the Clouds, The Well, The Waiting City and Woman Rebel.
The short films include:A Drop, Bedlam, The Cap,Clap Clap,Kunjo,Victor Ramirez, Asesino, A Cup of Paradise,Dust Request,Gareeb Nawaz, Half A Cup, Poly-Ticks, Rangmahal and The Spell.
