KANK collects Rs 1.20 billion worldwide

MUMBAI: Karan Johar’s Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna has grossed worldwide revenues of Rs 1.20 billion (Rs 120 crore) in three weeks.

Dharma Productions CEO Apoorva Mehta says, “We are all in a jubilious mood. Karan Johar, Amitabh Bachchan, Shah Rukh Khan, Rani Mukherji and I are going to attend the Toronto Film Festival. We are having a Red Carpet screening of Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna on 10 September. Regarding the break-up of collections territory-wise, I won’t be able to share them with you but I assure you that the film has grossed Rs 1.20 billion (Rs 120 crore).”

In third week too, KANK has struck a pot of gold in the overseas market. The film can be touted as the first Indian film to have collected $ 10 million ($ 1 crore).

KANK is placed at the 28th position in the US by grossing $ 38,8124 from 50 screens with an average per screen of $ 7,766. The total three weeks’ billing amounted to $30,00,124.

In the UK, KANK stands at the 13th position in terms of ranking. The film has collected $ 5,30,694 from 62 screens with an average per screen of $ 81,8560. The three weeks’ total collection amounted to $35,77,422.

In Australia, it was placed at the 28th position and grossed $ 16,326 from seven screens with an average of $ 2,333.

“The script of the film has been also called for the Oscar’s library. By this weekend, I’m sure that the film will be the biggest grosser in overseas. By the end of this week it should cross 2 million pound in the UK. In the US it has already grossed $3 million. The figures from Singapore and Malaysia are also fantastic. K3G is currently the biggest film in the overseas market and KANK is sure to break that and create a new record,” Mehta adds.
