Indian films should be promoted in Turkey

MUMBAI: Indian films need to recapture their earlier position in Turkey, said Meltem Cumbul – an actress from Turkey.

Cumbul, who was the member of the jury for the Competition Section, made these remarks while addressing the media at IFFI-2007. She said that Indian films, especially those of Raj Kapoor had been very popular in Turkey. Of late this trend had undergone a change, she said.

Cumbul said that story, screenplay and presentation are the core aspects that she weighs most in evaluating a film.

Cumbul has acted in over 50 films besides being involved with several radio and television shows. The film Lovelorn directed by Yavuz Turgul, in which Cumbul plays the lead female role is being screened in the Cinema of the World section at IFFI-07.
