MUMBAI: Sequels and remakes have become a tried and tested formula in Bollywood for some years now. While there are flicks like Lage Raho Munna Bhai and Koi Mil Gaya who have lived up to their predecessors, there have also been films like Phir Hera Pheri amongst others that could not live up to their original version.
Now plunging into the sequels bandwagon is none other than the one-hit-wonder director, John Mathew Mathan, who is readying the sequel of Sarfarosh, which was released in the late 90s. The film starred Aamir Khan and Sonali Bendre.
Says John Mathew Mathan, “Yes, a sequel to Sarfarosh is definitely on the cards, but I don’t have a ready script yet. I have already explored cross border terrorism. Today, everybody wants to dabble with the subject of global terrorism and I don’t want to limit myself. So I am looking at various options, but haven’t zeroed in on anything.”
According to information available with Businessofcinema.com, the director has thought of the plot and has approached Aamir Khan too. However Khan, who was initially kicked about doing the sequel, has declined the offer.
A source close to the director reveals, “The plot revolves around corruption and Aamir was approached, but he is too busy with his own production house, so he turned it down.” What’s more, sources reveal that actor Saif Ali Khan has now been offered the role.
