MUMBAI: John Abraham has taken a break from shooting for films and advertisements. But that has not kept the actor’s social diary free from invites. Johnny Boy just flew in from Bangkok on Wednesday after he had attended a dinner with former US President Jimmy Carter for the Habitat for Humanity.
Giving more details about the trip, John’s best friend Ashish Nangia, who flew to Bangkok with him, said, "In 2006, when the Habitat for Humanity was held in India in Lonavla, I introduced John to this charity. In 2006, he became the Indian ambassador and he got so involved that he was made the Global Hero in 2009."
John alongwith Ashish flew to Chiang Mai in Thailand on Sunday night to attend the annual Jimmy Carter Work Project which addresses the cause of poverty housing. Held this year at the Mekong Build, the event was graced by former US President Jimmy Carter and his wife, Rosalynn, who is behind this charitable cause.
Ashish elaborated, "John has been actively involved in the cause and even flew to Dubai last year to raise funds for the charity by auctioning some of his personal items like his racing jacket and helmet."
Getting John to talk about his pet projects on charity is a closed subject, but the actor did say, "I like doing these things because it helps families. More than 82 families were provided housing this year in Chiang Mai via the Habitat for Humanity."
