Juhi Chawla feted for excellence in comedy



MUMBAI: Actor Juhi Chawla was honoured with the Special Recognition in Comic excellence award at the Comedy Honors 2007, instituted by Star Gold. Shah Rukh Khan was there to give away the award to Chawla.


At the award ceremony held in Mumbai on 29 April, 2007, actor Javed Jaffrey spoke about his father Jagdeep’s hard journey in the film industry while presenting him with the Lifetime Achievement honour. ‘Munnabhai’ Sanjay Dutt, Ayesha Takia, producer and member of the channel’s Special Advisory Panel Vashu Bhagnani, Anupam Kher, models and granddaughters of filmmaker Hrisihikesh Mukherjee, Tupur and Tapur, presented the other honours at the ceremony. Also present on the occasion were film industry members including Jeetendra, Kunal Kohli, Aziz Mirza, Soha Ali Khan and Chunkey Pandey.
 
The Special Advisory Panel judging the Comedy Honors initiative consisted of three stalwarts who have themselves set milestones in the field of comedy in Hindi cinema – Kundan Shah, Vashu Bhagnani and Nagesh Kukunoor.


The Star Gold Comedy Honors 2007 finale was hosted by actor Shreyas Talpade along with Purbi Joshi, who kickstarted the event with a performance on the Comedy Honors Anthem. Among the other acts presented at the event were those by Govinda, Rimi Sen and Delnaz Paul along with Ranvir Shorey and Vinay Pathak; Sajid Khan, and a performance by Neha Dhupia and Shabbir Ahluwalia.
