MUMBAI: Actor-scriptwriter turned director Karan Razdan, is ready with his next project titled Maang, which revolves around extra marital affair.
Razdan new project will start in November. He has to his credit movies like Hawas, Girlfriend, Umar, Souten-The Other Woman and Eight – Shani.
“Maang is a bold story written by me and dwells on extra marital affair in today’s society. It also shows how the law in India has become partial for a married man and harsh for a woman and how a society treats a married woman. In the end, I show how the wife takes her husband to court and charges him with rape,” reveals Razdan.
“My film has only three main characters – husband, wife and a lawyer. Two producers are battling to produce this film. As for the budget, it will be a reasonable one pitched between Rs 10 – 20 million as it is easy to sell and release the movie on time. Till date my producers haven’t lost money on my movies. Some of my movies did not fare well at the box office but the producers got their money back. As for Maang, it is budgeted at Rs 20 million (Rs 2 crore) but it can increase to Rs 30 million (Rs 3 crore) if a known actress is signed for lead role. The film will start in November and will be completed in a single schedule,” he adds.
