Pande readies another controversial film

MUMBAI: Filmmaker Vinod Pande whose last film – Sins – faced criticism from the Christian community for showing a Catholic priest (Shiney Ahuja) in bad light, has not let criticism get to him. The maker is now back with yet another bold film titled Red Swastika, starring Menka Chopra, Harsh Chhaya and Deep Shikka.

Pande who made films like Ek Baar Phir, Yeh Nazdeekiyan, Ek Naya Rishta and Sach, became popular when his debut film Ek Baar Phir starring Deepti Naval and Suresh Oberoi, successfully tackled the issue of adultery.

“My films always create a sensation. Ek Baar Phir showed a wife leaving her husband to marry another man. I thought the film wouldn’t run as it was too bold a subject, but it was a hit. Red Swastika, on the other hand, tells the story of a psychotic killer played by a girl who becomes a serial killer and leaves a mark Red Swastika at the crime scene. This film has some elements to create controversy,” discloses Pande.

“I have financed my film since I did not find any financers. This will be my fourth film that I am financing. The film has four songs by music director Shamir Tandon who has given music to film like Page 3, Corporate and Traffic Signal. The shooting is complete and plans are to release the film in December.”

Pande says that top stars are not keen to work with him. “I have taken newcomers in lead roles. I have completed the film at a budget of Rs 15 million and waiting to sell the movie at one go,” he adds.
