MUMBAI: Bollywood actress Kareena Kapoor’s next would be Tigmanshu Dhulia’s period film, based on the life of Begum Samru.

Begum Samru was a nautch girl (dancer) in 18th Century, but eventually became the ruler of Sardhana, near Meerut. The Begum played a key role in the political power struggle in that era. She was the head of a professionally-trained mercenary army, inherited from her European husband –  Walter Reinhardt Sombre. This mercenary army consisted of Europeans and Indians. She is also regarded as the only Catholic ruler in India.

After ‘Heroine’, this will be the next in Kareena’s list of women centric roles. Having seen and liked Director Tigmanshu’s recent movies – ‘Paan Singh Tomar’ and ‘Saheb, Biwi Aur Gangster’, the actress is very keen to work with him. "Kareena is definitely excited for this film," said an official spokesperson.
