Manav Gangwani has designs on Hindi films

MUMBAI: Designer Manav Gangwani, whose costumes have dressed high profile celebrities like   Saif and Soha Ali Khan, Ameesha Patel, Raveena Tandon, Zeenat Aman and Priyanka Chopra, is now planning to turn designer for Hindi films.

Gangwani’s forte has been opulent costumes for women, but the designer has also diversified into men’s ready to wear and will open his first retail store ‘Manav Gangwani for Men’ aka MGM in New Delhi.

“When I started getting offers to design for Hindi films in 2003, I felt I was not ready for it. I was uncomfortable either with the script or the producer or the director, which in turn would prevent me from contributing 100 per cent to the project,” Gangwani says.

But now he has been receiving offers from makers. “While designing for films I don’t want to deviate from my look, which is very glamorous and elegant. If Kabhie Kabhie is recreated I would love to design for it.”
