Manoj Kumar returns with patriotic films

MUMBAI: Veteran actor and film maker Manoj Kumar’s last tryst with film direction was Jai Hind, which released in 1999. The producer now plans to return to the same genre of films after a seven year hiatus.


 


Says Kumar, “I had not stopped making films. There were some personal chores to be handled and it took a lot of time. Now with everything settled, I am back to business. We are making two films. One will be directed by me while my son Kunal Goswami will direct the next. We have completed the scripting of the two films, which are to be big budget ventures. And yes, they will be patriotic films. Within two weeks, we will finalise the cast and make the official launch.”


 


Manoj Kumar’s ouvre includes Upkar, Purab Aur Paschim, Shor, Roti Kapada Aur Makaan, Kranti and Clerk. The actor, who always had a penchant for writing, had penned a few bhajans for veteran singer Lata Mangeshkar’s devotional album five years ago. Recently, he also penned the lyrics for Deepak Balraj Vij’s film based on the life of Sai Baba – Maalik Ek, for music director Anoop Jalota.


 

Kumar’s son Kunal Goswami has acted in films like Ricky, Vishkanya, Ghungroo, Paap Ki Kamaee, Aakhri Baazi and Jai Hind.
