MUMBAI: The Walt Disney Company’s Buena Vista International Television-Asia Pacific (BVITV-AP), the international TV distribution arm, has restructured its sales division.
Amit Malhotra has been assigned the role of regional director, sales, Pan-Asia, India and Singapore, Mark Chan has expanded his role to director, sales, greater China and Ramez Sheikh has been promoted to senior manager, sales, south east Asia.
Malhotra is currently BVITV’s director, sales, India. In his new position, in addition to overseeing BVITV’s India business, Malhotra’s role will be expanded to manage and enhance the strategic relationships with Pan-Asian broadcasters, and BVITV’s distribution business in Singapore. Malhotra joined BVITV in 2004 as manager, sales, India, based in Mumbai, and was responsible for opening the first office in the country by a US television distributor. He will relocate on 1 June, 2007 to BVITV-AP’s regional head office in Hong Kong to take up his new role. A replacement in India is currently being sought, says a release.
Chan most recently served as director, sales, China, based in Beijing where inaugural events such as the Beijing Screenings, a localised version of the LA screenings, were brought to Chinese clients in August 2006. He now adds to his function the Hong Kong and Taiwan distribution business, with immediate effect. Chan joined BVITV in 2003 as manager, sales, Philippines, Taiwan, Hong Kong and Indonesia. He relocates to Hong Kong with immediate effect.
Ramez Sheikh, who was previously manager, sales, Indonesia and emerging markets including Vietnam, Sri Lanka and Brunei, will now also cover BVITV’s distribution business across all platforms in Thailand, Malaysia, and the Philippines. Sheikh, based in Hong Kong, is responsible for bringing the first Jetix branded animation block in Asia Pacific to free-to-air in Vietnam, and in 2006, the “Annual Academy Awards.”
In addition, Shreya Kapdi has been appointed assistant manager, client development, India and Karen Moon has been appointed assistant manager, sales, South Korea. Kapdi will be responsible for managing existing client relationships and exploiting localisation opportunities in India.
