Martial Arts Weekend on World Movies

Mumbai: UTV Network’s World Movies will be airing a Martial Arts Weekend on 20 and 21 June. The special weekend will showcase Yimou Zhang’s award-winning epic blockbusters Hero and House of Flying Daggers.

Hero, starring Jet Li and Ziyi Zhang, is the most expensive Chinese movie till date. The movie has won 21 awards and has been nominated for 19 others. Hero is the first foreign language film to open at number one at the US box office and was nominated for Best Foreign Language Film at the Oscars and the Golden Globes in 2003.

House of Flying Daggers, an Oscar nominee, was also the official selection at Cannes Film Festival 2004. The movie has to its credit 16 prestigious awards and 33 nominations.

Shot in Ukraine for its climatic fight scenes, the movie was nominated for Best Cinematography at the Oscars. House of Flying Daggers stars Hong Kong’s most commercially successful actor Andy Lau along with actress Ziyi Zhang, who has a string of Chinese and international hits to her name.

UTV COO Dilshad Master says, "We are bringing two of world’s most acclaimed action movies under the umbrella of the Martial Arts Weekend. Both these movies highlight martial arts and rich imagery."

Hero will air on 20 June, whereas House of Flying Daggers will air on 21 June.
