MUMBAI: Moser Baer Entertainment is now eyeing the theatrical distribution space and has acquired the rights of Venus’ home production Maan Gaye Mughal-E-Azam.
The film stars Rahul Bose, Mallika Sherawat and Paresh Rawal and is directed by Sanjay Chhel. The release is slated towards the last week of August.
Moser Baer Entertainment CEO Hairish Dayani says, "We wanted to venture into theatrical distribution so as to strengthen our connectivity by creating a line-up of movies. Hence we have started acquiring movies from other companies also."
While audio rights have been retained by Venus, the remaining rights for domestic and overseas theatrical distribution, satellite and home video are now with Moser Baer.
Venus Records and Tapes managing director Ratan Jain confirmed the development to Businessofcinema.com but refused to divulge the price of the deal.
Commenting on the acquisition Dayani adds, "We have seen 30-40 minutes of the film and also the songs of Maan Gaye Mughal- E-Azam and realized that this comedy film has a good potential."
