MUMBAI: The ongoing film strike is affecting even the awards this year. Earlier films like Lagaan, Yuva and Parineeta have been showcased, but with the prolonged deadlock of the multiplex owners and producers seeing no compromise in the next few months, there will not be a film premiered in Macau this year where the IIFA Awards are going to be held.
The organizers were left with little choice but to scrap the star studded red carpet premiere. Instead of the film show, a fashion extravaganza has been organized.
Ever since the International Indian Film Academy Awards (IIFA) started in 2000 at the Millennium Dome in London, the organizers have tried to introduce several new elements to make the one day event into a three day long weekend.
