MUMBAI: As more and more players are plunging into Bollywood, the space is getting exciting by the day. Now the newest entrant in this sphere is Multivision, which has been a distributor for English movies in India for the last couple of years.
Multivision’s first film has been planned with director Anant Mahadevan. The scripting of the film is underway and the film is likely to go on floors by early next year.
Commenting on this business initiative, Multivision director Ajay Gupta says, “Our company’s promoters are from South East Asia and they have produced local Indonesian movies. Producing Indian movies has been a part of our long term agenda.”
About the film Gupta says, “Our first film will be directed by Anant Mahadevan. It will have a budget of Rs 80 – 100 million (Rs 8 – 10 crores). Then depending on the success of our first film we may go ahead with producing three films a year.”
Mahadevan was unavailable for comment as he is currently shooting for Nagesh Kukunoor’s Tasveer in Canada.
In the field of film distribution, Multivision has an alliance with various independent production companies such as New Line Cinema, Lakeshore, Archlugh, Summit, Lionsgate, Syndicate etc.
