Mumbai: Filmmaker N Chandra was lying low after fun capers like Style and X’cuse Me. Chandra wanted to go ahead with its
third part in the series. But Sharman Joshi, Sahil Khan’s co-star from the Chantu-Bantu combination in the film had
big films Rang De Basanti and Golmaal-Fun Unlimited and could not help Chandra with his film.
Hence Chandra dropped the idea and moved to familiar gangster land. He was looking forward to make a film on gangster Abu Salem.”I was to direct the film for Abu Salem’s advocate Ashok Sarogi whose wife Sarla was to produce it. The film needed a realistic look and feel and the Sarogis thought I was the best choice
to direct it,” says N Chandra.
“I wanted to direct this film, because I have always been drawn to real life subjects. It was the same when I did Kagaar on the life of encounter cop Daya Nayak,”clarifies the director. He further adds, “But I think that in the current sceaniro, it is not possible for the film to start.
