MUMBAI: NDTV Imagine Films is looking at NBC Universal’s (NBCU) films division as a potential partner for movie production. NDTV Imagine Films is currently in the process of developing and producing various scripts. NBCU films division is likely to invest as a potential partner in this venture.
NBC Universal had earlier acquired a 26 per cent stake in NDTV Networks for $150 million. Additionally, NBCU has the option in two years to increase its stake, at the then fair market value, in the holding company of NDTV Networks PLC to 50 per cent with the NDTV group holding an equal 50 per cent stake.
NDTV Networks has under its fold NDTV Imagine, NDTV Lifestyle, NDTV Convergence and NDTV Labs. It also holds 50 per cent stake in NGEN Media Services.
On the other hand, NBC Universal has under its fold two movie studios – Universal Pictures and Focus Features.
Recently NDTV Imagine Films acquired all rights of two Hindi movies namely I’m 24 and Sunglass from Planman Motion Pictures. As was first reported by Businessofcinema.com, the movies will be jointly marketed by Planman and NDTV Imagine Films. Additionally, NDTV Imagine Films has also entered into a co-production agreement with NFDC India for a film titled The White Elephant, which is directed by Aijaz Khan.
