Mumbai: NDTV Imagine and Shah Rukh Khan’s Red Chilles Idiot Box have collaborated for a sitcom titled Ghar Ki Baat Hai, the official announcement for which was at a press conference on Tuesday night. Khan, who has just returned from LA after shooting Karan Johar’s My Name Is Khan was present at the conference along with Sameer Nair, Aziz Mirza, Ananth Mahadevan and the cast members of the serial.
The sitcom will be telecast from 30 January onward at 9.30 pm from Friday to Sunday. Already on air are The First Ladies and Karan@Chivas. Apart from this, Idiot Box will soon launch reality show Knights and Angels on NDTV Imagine to hunt for cheerleaders for his IPL team Knight Riders.
Speaking about Red Chillies upbeat foray into television, Khan says, "I got an opportunity with Sameer and NDTV who said that they can invest money. Considering the market fragmentation now, risk is certainly there, but we cannot stop doing work because of that. I want to bring cinematic value to television."
While Mahadevan will be directing the Ghar Ki Baat Hai series, Mirza is its creative supervisor. The title track of the show has been composed by Pritam and is sung by Sukhwinder Singh.
