New Bollywood breed to host Filmfare Awards?

MUMBAI: Finding celebrities to host film award ceremonies is getting to be a big task for event organizers. With the debacle at the recently concluded Star Screen Awards between siblings Sajid and Farah Khan and Ashutosh Gowarikar with regards to the tone of the language to address recipients of awards, the woes have increased.

Shah Rukh Khan decided to pull out of hosting this year’s Filmfare Awards after a lot of people became upset with his brand of jokes at the previous year’s awards. As was earlier reported by Businessofcinema.com, Filmfare organizers have been on the lookout for a new pair. Although Jitesh Pillai, the editor of the magazine refused to disclose who will carry on the mantle of hosting the oldest film awards, we have our inside sources who have spilled the beans.

According to this source, who has been a part of at least the last 10 such functions of Filmfare said in an ambiguous manner, “The guys who made their biggest splashes as debutants in the year 2007 and 2008, will be hosting the awards.”

With such a declaration, the names were pretty obvious. With Ranbir Kapoor having taken top honours in 2007 for Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Sawaariya and Imran Khan in 2008 for Jaane Tu… Ya Jaane Na, the speculation was not difficult. Both these actors have good commercial value and will be seen displaying new talents as they carry on the legacy of famous names hosting the event.
