NFDC initative for co-production of feature films

Mumbai: The National Film Development Corporation Limited (NFDC)
invites scripts (in English) for facilitating feature film co-productions. Filmmakers are required to submit scripts
in English (duly registered with the Writers’ Association and copyrighted) for consideration along with a Letter of Commitment for an assured minimum fiscal investment of 30% of the total cost of the film project. Proposals complete in all respects will be evaluated by a committee of eminent
personalities set up by NFDC. The committee will comprise members drawn from the entertainment sector. A maximum of five scripts will be selected by the committee.

For the scripts which are selected by the Committee, NFDC will
undertake to back the films with an investment of an additional 30% of the total budget of the film or Rs. 1 Crore, whichever is less. This investment by NFDC will be subject to the filmmaker being able to raise the balance investment within one year from the date of selection of the script by NFDC. Once the 100% equity for the project is in place, NFDC’s stake in the project cannot be substituted under any circumstances without NFDC’s specific written consent, even if the
filmmaker is able to identify 100% financing subsequent to this process, or in the event of an escalation in budgets,
reducing NFDC’s investment of Rs. 1 Crore to a smaller equity stake in the film. NFDC will retain first right of refusal to the extent of its equity in such or any other event.

After NFDC selects the scripts, the filmmakers will be provided with a platform in Goa by NFDC alongside IFFI 2006, where they can interact with potential investors, Indian and Foreign,
to raise the balance investment. The infrastructural support will comprise a screening hall with DVD projection facility (for the filmmaker to make a presentation of his project and to screen his previous works, if any) and facilitation of meetings between the filmmakers and the potential investors.

Once 100% investment in the project is finalized, co-production
agreements will be drawn up between the stakeholders on mutually agreed terms and conditions. Any interpretation and / or question arising out of the above will be decided by the Chairman of NFDC whose decision shall be final and binding on the parties. Scripts (in English) along with the form duly filled in and with
all requisite enclosures may be submitted latest by 30th September, 2006 at the following address:
