Rs. 10 million and 20 million lost….
Mumbai: The incessant rains last week again played spoilsport for Sajid Nadiadwala’s Salman Khan – Akshay Kumar starrer Jaan-e-mann. The film was delayed earlier due to multiple reasons. This time again the final shooting schedule was going on at Film City . In fact the set put up at Film City was the same one put up last July when it had to be dismantled due to the 26/7 deluge. Then the losses were reported to be around Rs. 10 million compared to this years’ Rs. 20 million.
But this time Sajid Nadiadwala is determined to see through the completion come rain or snow. He has been living in his vanity van since the start of the last schedule. The shooting schedule was supposed to have been wrapped up by July 13 will end two days later.
“This year’s heavy downpour has brought a sense of déjàvu. We carried on the shoot and only cancelled it for a day,” says Sajid Nadiadwala.
The filmmaker used to make one film in two years. But keeping with the market dynamics he is making multiple projects. He has invested almost Rs. 1 billion on 3 new directors. Sajid clarifies, “It’s approximately Rs. 1.2 billion – Jaan-e-mann directed by Shirish Kunder is more than Rs 350 million. The next is Hey Baby directed by Sajid Khan, starring Akshay Kumar, Vidya Balan, Fardeen Khan, Riteish Deshmukh. The shooting will commence on August 7. Finally, last but not the least, Saabir Khan, who assisted during Mujhse Shaadi Karogi, will make the other film.”
