Mumbai: Osian’s-Cinefan Film Festival has invited renowned screenplay writer Paul Schrader as part of its 10th anniversary. The festival will be screening two films of the writer during the time. It will also hold a master class on screenwriting with him.
The festival is scheduled to be held from 10-20 July in New Delhi, with the inaugural function on 11 July.
Two films of Schrader, Taxi Driver and Mishima, will be screened at the festival. Schrader’s Masterclass on screenwriting will be a festival highlight. He will analyse the elements of a story and talk about how metaphors can be found from one’s own life that can be turned into a powerful and compelling screenplay.
Young aspiring filmmakers invited to be part of the fifth edition of Talent Campus India during the festival will gain enormously from this session. In addition, Schrader’s lecture on New Media focuses on the forces that are coalescing to end the 20th Century notion of ‘movies’ and what the future of audio-visual entertainment will be. These sessions will be open to the public on a ‘first-come-first-seated’ basis.
