MUMBAI: This week sees the release of two Bollywood films Help and Peepli[Live] along with Hollywood flicks Grown Ups, Dinner For Schmucks and The Expendables.
While Rupali Aum Entertainment’s Help, directed Rajiv Virani is a horror film starring Bobby Deol, Mugdha Godse, Sophia Handa and Shreyas Talpade, the much awaited, UTV and Aamir Khan Production’s Peepli [Live] is a satire, which revolves around a villager from Central India called Natha, his brother Budhia and their family. The family is about to lose their land because they are unable to repay a loan, when, they hear of a government program which offers the family of any farmer committing suicide a compensation of Rs 100,000. The older brother convinces his sibling to agree to commit suicide. Peepli[Live] is directed by first time director, Anusha Rizvi and stars Naseeruddin Shah, Malaika Shenoy, Nawazuddin Siddiqui, Shalini Vatsa, Farrukh Jaffar, Vishal Sharma and Aamir Bashir.
The two Bollywood releases might just vie for attention at the box office with three Hollywood releases this week. As far as Hollywood releases are concerned all the three films releasing this week are comedy flicks.
Dinner For Schmucks starring Paul Rudd, Steve Carell and Zach Galifianakis is about a group of rich stockbrokers, who search for eccentric characters with unique talents, to be entertained by them over dinner. The film is inspired by French play The Dinner and directed by Jay Roach.
Grown Ups is an American comedy starring Adam Sandler, Kevin James, Chris Rock, David Spade and Rob Schneider. Sandler and Fred Wolf wrote the script and the film is directed by Dennis Dugan . The film is produced by Sandler’s production company Happy Madison and distributed by Columbia Pictures.
On the other hand, The Expendables is directed by Sylvester Stallone and stars Stallone along with Jason Stathan, Jet Li amongst others.
With so many releases this week, will it be raining cats and dogs or cash this weekend is what we have to wait and watch!!
