MUMBAI: Pritish Nandy Communications is ramping up its film production and at present has a cool 18 films under various stages of production.
The company has recently signed on producer – director – actor – writer Rajat Kapoor for a five film deal. The company has also inked a five film animation deal with Motion Pixel Corporation last month, thus taking the tally to 22.
Kapoor, who produced 2007’s most successful comedy, Bheja Fry and had earlier produced and directed Raghu Romeo and Mixed Doubles, will produce five films for PNC over the next two years. The first film under this deal will be a comedy titled A Rectangular Love Story.
The other PNC films with various directors, which are underway are as follows:
PNC already has inked contracts with director Saket Chaudhary for three films, starting with Pyaar Ke Side Effects followed by its sequel Shaadi Ke Side Effects, which Chaudhary is currently writing. The film will soon go on the floor, followed by a dramatic thriller, later this year.
Suparn Verma, who directed Ek Khiladi Ek Haseena, and is currently writing and directing its animation version, EKEH Version2.0, has also been signed on. Verma’s next mega-action film Kiss Kiss! Bang Bang! is also under in the pipeline.
The other films that will also be converted into animated versions include Pyar Ke Side Effects and Kaante. The work on character development for both films is underway.
Post Just Married, director Meghna Gulzar is writing and directing Bhoola Bhatka Atka, a romantic comedy for PNC.
Leena Yadav, maker of Aishwarya Rai and Sanjay Dutt starrer Shabd, is also under a contract for three films and she is currently working on her next script. As is Kabir Sadanand who is about to go on the floor with a thriller called Ittefaq for PNC.
Sujoy Ghosh, director of Jhankaar Beats is writing its sequel Jhankaar Beats Again! with Suresh Nair. This too will go on the lot immediately.
Two films by Sudhir Mishra are also in the making, Aur Devdas and Hitman. Also signed on are Arindam Mitra (Black Friday, Shoonya) for a spook film The Ghost Story and Ashwini Chaudhary (Dhoop, Laado, Good Boy Bad Boy) for a comedy Chiki Chiki Bam Bam both of which are going into production immediately.
