Rahul Dholakia’s next film targets J&K

MUMBAI: Parzania maker Rahul Dholakia now plans to make a film on the troubled region of Jammu and Kashmir.

Says Dholakia, “The revolt in Kashmir since 1989 has seen the worst of times. More than 50,000 people have been killed. It is no more a serene valley that it once used to be. People live in constant fear and it has affected the tourism industry too. It is the only region where heavy military is deployed. My film will project people in Kashmir living with multiple identities. It has a serious theme and the film will be devoid of songs.”

Dholakia says he plans to cast Sanjay Dutt in the lead role. “I will go ahead with my plans after the court’s verdict on 14 June 2007,” he says, of the judgment awaited in the Mumbai bomb blasts case, in which Dutt has been indicted.
