Prasad EFX installs digital suite

MUMBAI: Digital post production studio Prasad EFX has installed the ‘2K Digital Projection System’ for colour grading in its Mumbai based digital intermediate facility.

Prasad EFX has worked on the DI (Digital Intermediate) and Colour Grading of movies including Krrish and Rang De Basanti. The company has recently upgraded its DI facility by providing a digital theatrical projection system using the high end Barco Projector D – Cine Premiere DP100. The 26ft x 40ft theater is located in the Prasad EFX facility at Andheri, Mumbai and is also equipped with 5.1 surround sound.

Says Prasad EFX director Sai Prasad, “Till now, digital grading in India has been done on a small monitor or a low end projector and screen. But in the major studios in Hollywood, they provide the real theatre experience allowing the cinematographer to see the image being graded in high resolution on the big screen. Seeing the upward trend in India in the DI sector, we decided it is time to provide the best experience and service to our customers. Our meticulously colour calibrated environment ensures that what you see in our new facility is what is actually seen in the cinema theatres.”

Recognised as the industry standard for Digital Cinema, Barco’s D-Cine Premiere DP100 projector is based on Texas Instruments’ DLP Cinema technology, which enables it to deliver the benefits of 2048×1080 display resolution, 18.000 Cinema lumens light output, a contrast ratio of 2000:1 and extensive image control. The D-Cine Premiere DP100 meets or exceeds SMPTE screen brightness standards on screens up to 20m (65.6ft) wide, and ensures optimum performance and reliability through its integrated light path and digital processing, states an official release.
