MUMBAI: PVR Pictures has appointed Arun Nair as vice president marketing.
Nair was earlier heading the marketing function at Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions. After he resigned from Dharma, he worked with Tips Films as marketing consultant for Kumar Taurani’s Prince, where he was handling the promotion of the film.
Nair will join PVR Pictures from 1 April, 2010 and will be handling the marketing for Hindi co-productions. At present, there are three films that PVR is co-producing namely Anil Kapoor Productions’ Aisha directed by Rajshree Ojha and starring Abhay Deol and Sonam Kapoor, Ashutosh Gowariker’s Khelein Hum Jee Jaan Sey starring Abhishek Bachchan and Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra’s Mad Madder Maddest directed by Mrighdeep Lambha and starring Om Puri, Shreyas Talpade and Deepak Dobriyal.
Besides the Hindi film co-productions, Nair will also be looking after the promotions for PVR’s Hollywood slate. Speaking to Businessofcinema.com, Nair said, "I am excited about being part of the PVR Group. Apart from producing an eclectic mix of films, PVR is a leading distributor and most importantly offers the best film-going experience in the country. Presently, I will be handling the three Hindi films that we are co-producing and besides that, I will also be working on the Hollywood releases slate with the team. The biggest film of this year is undoubtedly Eclipse, the third installment from the Twilight series releasing worldwide on 2 July."
PVR Pictures will also release the DVD of New Moon on 8 April. Apart from the Twilight series, the other Hollywood releases include Edge of Darkness (Mel Gibson), A Single Man (Colin Firth), Remember Me (Rob Pattinson of Twilight) and Agora (Rachel Weisz).
