Mumbai: Dhuaaan… From the Fire Within, a film by Dr. Mrunalinni A. Dayal, has been selected in the Indian Premier Category for Goa International Film festival.
Dayal says, "I don’t know how to express my reaction on this honor. We had sent our film for the entry but had left it to the jurors to decide. I knew that it is the right platform for the film like this that deals with an issue. We will get international attention as well as the focus from the crème-de-crème of film industry. I was hoping to get a screening but I did not know that we will be in the Indian Premier Category, which is very tough. There are only six films in this section. I am very lucky to be there. As a director it is a moment of pride for me, especially in the field that is male dominated in this industry."
Dayal’s first film as director was a Marathi film Manthan – Ek Amrut Payala. It was selected for special screening in Goa in the year 2005. Based on domestic violence, it was the only Marathi film selected that year.
South Indian actress Lakshmi Gopalaswami said, "It is my first Hindi film, totally the kind of cinema that I am interested in. It’s very special because it is a woman director, who is very sensible. I have gone by the story, which is so strong, and the conviction is the main strength of the film and that is why I accepted the film. It is very heartening to hear that it has made it, I would have been disappointed if it had not. The USP of this film is the honesty in its making. Let’s see how people react."
The movie is produced under the banner of Wild Water Entertainment. It stars Raj Babbar, Amitabh Dayal, Gopalaswami, Shivaji Satam, Milind Gunajee, Yatin Karekar, Padmini Kolhapure, Vikram Gokhale, Sudipto, Gitanjli Sharma, Soniya Kapoor, Navni Parihaar, Rati Agnihotree, Soumya Tondon & Paraag Chapekar.
