MUMBAI: The 2010 edition of India Retail Forum culminated with the announcement of IMAGES Retail Awards. While a number of retailers emerged winners in different categories, PVR was awarded The most admired retailer of the year award in the Multiplex category. The other cinemas nominated in the same category were Big Cinemas, INOX, PVR, Fun Multiplex, Cinemax, and Fame Cinemas.
PVR CEO and group president Pramod Arora said, “It’s an extremely proud moment for us at PVR to win this award. At PVR, it is our constant endeavour to be number one in the hearts and minds of people. We strive to provide the PVR experience to the masses; therefore, we have PVR Gold class in tier I and PVR talkies in tier II and tier III cities. We further plan to expand the PVR brand into other aspects of entertainment formats and become an integrated retail and film entertainment company. We are thrilled with the award as such appreciation of our work encourages us to work towards a much better cinema viewing experience for our audiences. I express my gratitude to India Retail Forum for appreciating our work and efforts.”
PVR currently has 142 screens spread across 18 key cities in India. The company is also planning to launch an entertainment city comprising a 15 screen multiplex with four gold class theatres, a 24-to-28 lane bowling alley, an Olympic size ice skating rink and food courts with restaurants, a microbrewery based Beer Island and food kiosks. PVR will open over five bowling centres in one year, and plans to add over 50 screens every financial year.
