Raaz – The Mystery Continues gets ‘A’ certificate sans cuts

MUMBAI: Vishesh Films and Sony BMG’s forthcoming film Raaz – The Mystery Continues has finally received an Adult Only (A) certificate without any cuts by the Censor Board.

A few days back, the film received an A certificate but the producers were asked to chop a bath tub scene where Kangana Ranaut’s silhouette appears from behind a glass door leaving very little to imagination.

Speaking to Businessofcinema.com producer Mukesh Bhatt says, "If the Censor Board decided to give the film an A certificate, then why should we delete even a single scene?"

Later, the revising committee of the Censor Board viewed the film again and passed it with an A certificate without any cuts. Censor Board regional officer Vinayak Azad said, "When we saw the film again we realized that Kangana’s shot is behind a glass door and nothing could be seen. It is just a two second shot, so we gave it an A certificate without any cuts."

The A certificate accreditation will now impact the movie’s business as it will lead to omission of the younger lot of audience. "Yes, this will definitely eat into the movie’s revenues and will obviously make an impact," concurs Bhatt.

It may be recalled that in an interview with Businessofcinema.com, director Mohit Suri mentioned that Vishesh Films was rooting for a U/A censor certificate. For the purpose of selling the film’s satellite rights, a few scenes will have to be cut to get a U/A certificate for TV viewing.

Commenting on this Bhatt says, "Yes, we wanted a U/A certificate for Raaz-TMC, but the Censor Board could not give us a U/A certificate. Horror films on the big screen cannot get U/A certificate, but I wonder how horror shows on TV can be telecast."

Apart from Ranaut, the movie stars Emraan Hashmi and Adhayayan Suman.
